Piano with Shoko

A native of Hyogo, Japan, Shoko Mimura is an active solo pianist and accompanist. She also enjoys teaching students of all ages and introducing them to wonderful classical music.

She has been playing as a solo pianist at many concerts in Japan including Tamba no Mori International Music Festival Schubertiade, Kobe College and Graduate School concerts for selected graduates, Asahi Nominated Performers Concert, and as an accompanist for other instruments and chorus groups.  She has also won prizes at competitions in Japan including Hyogo Prefecture High School Music Solo Performance Competition, Japan Classical Music Competition, and Takarazuka Vega Music Competition. From 2005, while she was in college, she started teaching piano and solfège at music schools and at home. Some students received prizes at competitions. She always loves helping students and focuses her teaching on foundations of skill, how to enjoy piano, and how to feel the music. She has been playing local concerts at many kindergartens, elementary schools and middle schools. She’s passionate about showing children how great and fun it is to connect to music through performances.


She has received training from notable and respected pianists including Reiko Imrie, Keiko Yamamoto, Midori Kataoka, and Boris Bekhterev. She graduated from the music department at Hyogo Prefectural High school in Japan and received a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance and Masters of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from Kobe College in Japan.
